Volunteers’ Week 2025: Reeta’s story
It’s Volunteers’ Week and we’re celebrating. Did you know, you don’t need to own a pet to volunteer with PAT? Many of our Assessors just love being around animals.
Reeta Minhas-Judd is a PAT Assessor from Earlsfield, London, and helps us assess people's furry friends.
When did you join the PAT pack?
I trained as an Assessor in November 2024 and have carried out a few assessments since my training. Although it's an integral role – we need to ensure a family pet is suitable to be a PAT Dog – it's also so much fun meeting lovely dogs with their unique personalities.
I get to interact with these wonderful furry friends and meet the owners too.
Do you find it rewarding?
Yes, I find volunteering rewarding. It gives me a sense of fulfilment as I'm helping animals to help humans and that in turn helps with positive mental health.
It's great to see so many people who are interested in supporting a good cause. I love assessing.
Why should others volunteer with PAT?
It is such a wonderful organisation and our furry friends help everyone to live their best life! Everyone should go for it.
As a wellbeing therapist, mental health is an integral part of my role and therefore assessing animals for PAT is fulfilling as they are helping to spread joy. I have a rescue dog myself and she helps me live my best life every day.
We are always looking to recruit more volunteers.
