Prisons

Pets As Therapy has a partnership service with many prisons across the UK to give prisoners the chance to interact with a friendly dog. Therapeutic sessions often shift a person's outlook and can reduce stress levels and lower volatility.

Spending time with a friendly dog also helps prisoners to explore ways of expressing and processing their emotions, and the dogs provide a sense of connection to the 'outside world’. Prisoners who have mental health issues, autism, learning difficulties and dementia are also enjoying the company of a PAT Dog.

If you work within a prison and want to know more about the special four-legged visitors to prisons, please contact us and our prison service lead will be in touch to discuss this service further.
