PAT Team plays a key part in community celebrations

PAT Team Lynette and Lily have been tasked with the great honour of crowning this year’s May Day Queen at the Eleanor Cross, in the centre of the village of Geddington.

Lynette and Lily visit Geddington Primary School for Read2Dogs sessions twice a week. The pupils get the chance to read out loud to Lily, and they are also able to groom her or simply talk freely to her.

Back in May this year they were asked to be part of the community traditional May Day Queen celebrations, following the tradition of the school's celebration of May Day where the children perform May Daydances for their families.

Lynette said: "I am a firm believer that dogs can do amazing things in school to help support pupils. I have witnessed first-hand how Lily has boosted children's confidence and wellbeing following their interactions with her".

PAT Volunteers are widely recognised as being a key part of the communities they live in for the special service of sharing their pets with their local schools, hospices, hospitals, etc. It's more than "just" volunteering!

We are always looking for more volunteers to help and support their communities.
