Prisons

Pets As Therapy Teams visit 24 prisons across the UK and have found that inmates who interact with a PAT Dog feel less stressed. Therapeutic sessions can shift a person’s outlook and instil a sense of hope and incentive to live a crime-free life.

Spending time with a friendly dog can help prisoners to explore ways of expressing and processing their emotions, and the dogs provide a sense of connection to the 'outside world’. Inmates who have mental health issues, autism, learning difficulties and dementia are also enjoying the company of a PAT Dog.
