Our volunteer, James Middleton, was interviewed by Clare Balding for Channel 4’s coverage of Crufts, about volunteering with Pets As Therapy.

The Pets As Therapy stand
Our Pets As Therapy stand was manned by PAT staff throughout Crufts, as well as some of our amazing volunteers. They chatted with lots of prospective volunteers, and we were able to sign up some new volunteers during the event.
If you visited the stand at Crufts please share your photos with us on social media by tagging us and using the hashtag #petsastherapy. We’re on:
Pets As Therapy Crufts competitions
As well as our stand, we also ran two competitions during Crufts 2019.
HiLife PAT Dog of the Year 2019
Every year we run a competition amongst our Pets As Therapy volunteers to crown one outstanding Dog of the Year. In 2019, the competition was sponsored by HiLife Pet Foods, and all prizes were donated by them.
Six finalists were chosen, and were featured in Yours Magazine where readers could vote for their winner. The winner was announced on Friday 8 March 2019, and it was Bichon Frise Bella who claimed the title along with her owner Barry Coase!
PAT Show Dog of the Year
PAT Show Dog of the Year is a competition that can be entered by any of our Pets As Therapy registered visiting volunteers or charity supporters. Stakes class events take place at 5 dog shows across England, Wales and the Channel Islands throughout the year preceding Crufts and produce a total of 14 finalists.
The final of the PAT Show Dog of the Year took place on Saturday 9 March 2019, and the winner was Sue Riley and her golden retriever Carson (also known as ‘Fluffy Bear’!), from South Wales.
